Aftercare

So you have amazing new hair using one of our hair enhancement systems, how do you protect your investment? Aftercare is just as important as the application. Learn how to properly care for your hair extensions using pro tips for hair care and styling:

• DO NOT shampoo your hair or exercise to the point of perspiration for 48 hours after application. including initial and maintenance services. as the bond/ tape tabs need adequate time to cure. No exceptions. This will give you enough time for the bonds or tape tabs to settle and ensure that your extensions will not slide out through premature contact with cleansing chemicals.

• Expect to see small quantities of naturally released hair trapped in the bonds or tape tab after some time. This is quite normal as hair naturally sheds on a daily basis. These ends can be cut by Dana to minimize tangling close to the bonds/ tape tab. It may be more noticeable with dark hair.

• Prior to bed, pull your hair back into a soft ponytail or braid to prevent tangling while sleeping. Use a Satin Pillowcase to allow your hair to move freely while you sleep.

• Return to Dana two months after your extensions have been applied for a complimentary check-up appointment. During this appointment, Dana will check and separate your bonds/ tape tabs, which will help maintain healthy hair growth.

BRUSHING

• Brush your hair twice a day using a Wet brush which is specifically designed for hair extensions. Do not use hard brush strokes. Separate your applied strands using your fingers. This will avoid matting in this area. Do not use a hard bristled brush. This may cause the extension strands to slip out.

• Use a wide-toothed comb or a wet brush to remove tangles from mid-strands to hair ends gently.  Do not use a comb near the scalp area near the bonds or tape tabs.

STYLING

• Curling irons and hot rollers may be used, but keep them at least 3cm to 4cm away from the hair bonds/ tape tabs. DO NOT use a flat iron or curling iron directly on the bonds/tape tabs.

• For Tape, PRESS PANELS; Be sure you are pressing your extension panels together when you are blow drying. This will reaffirm the Tape Tab each time you are drying. Power dry panels and scalp area before applying tension with a brush.

• EXTRA STYLING TIME

  Leave a little extra time for styling until you are accustomed to working with your extra volume and/or length.

• PRODUCTS, Only use products Dana recommends for your extensions. All of our Products are hair extension certified!

  SHOWERING

• Do not use products that contain sulfur, such as dandruff shampoos. Only use the SHE Hair Essential Hair Care kit or Brazilian b3 Extension Repair System, which is specially designed to improve the condition of your hair extensions and prevent hair shedding and slippage.

• When showering, tilt your head back and cleanse from the top of the head downward. Avoid facing your head downward. Condition using the SHE Hair Essential Hair Care kit or b3 Extension Repair System, and de-tangle only from mid-strand to end, avoiding the scalp area.

• After showering, Dry your hair by wrapping it with a Microfibre Headwrap or a towel to remove moisture. Always dry the base area thoroughly to avoid bond/ tape breakdown. Avoiding drying in a scrubbing motion. If using a blow dryer, use medium to low heat and finish with a cool shot once the hair is completely dry.

SWIMMING

• Activities that result in a constant, damp environment, especially swimming in seawater and chlorine, may lessen the longevity of your extensions. Prior to swimming, wet the hair completely to prevent chlorine and salt water from sticking to your hair. Immediately after swimming, Rinse with Tap or Bottled/ Filtered water to eliminate damage from alkalinity in the water and dry the base area as prescribed above.
